Pineapple: You can used canned pineapple or fresh cut pineapple. If you do use canned pineapple, save the juice and add it to the sauce in place of water.
Mirin: Mirin is a low alcohol rice wine (don’t worry – all the alcohol cooks out of the sauce!) which gives teriyaki sauce it’s signature taste but if you can’t find it dry cooking sherry is a good substitute.
